CHIROPRACTIC WELLNESS CENTER

Two tools used in chiropractic adjustments are the adjustor and the percussor. Although separate tools that provide separate functions, the adjustor and the percussor are both simply, common tools in any chiropractors office.

A tool commonly used in chiropractic medicine is known simply as an adjustor. An adjustor is small handheld tool that is applied to the subluxations in the spine. These adjustments will allow your chiropractor to treat the subluxation and restore natural movement to the spine.

Beneath the outer layers of skin is a jelly like substance that serves as connective tissue to the deeper layers of dermis (skin). This substance, which has the consistency of egg whites, is called the fascia. When the fascia becomes restricted, which can result from subluxations, it hardens and the nerves cannot move freely. This can cause chronic pain. The percussor is a tool that provides a smooth force that frees up the fascia and allows it to flow smoothly again. The affected nerves are no longer restricted and the resulting pain subsides.
